Blue Mountain students Ava Beaty and Annie Hernandez were selected to attend the NEMCC President's Leadership Luncheon yesterday. These students were chosen based on their strong leadership qualities, positive character and commitment to personal growth. During this event they learned about scholarship opportunities, college life, and the many clubs and organizations that are available at Northeast. The students also got to meet with the department heads of their chosen field of study. We are so proud of Ava and Annie for representing Blue Mountain so well!
Blue Mountain Senior Dakota Wardlow was able to job shadow at Tippah Electric today. He learned about real-world skills in the electrical field. Dakota's plans for after graduation is to be a lineman or an electrician. A big thanks to Drew Gann for allowing Dakota this opportunity to job shadow at Tippah Electric.
Blue Mountain Seniors Riley Maree and Jatzarabeth Martinez and Juniors Caleb Galvez, and Andrea Portillo represented Blue Mountain High School at the Tippah County Population Forum on Wednesday. The main focus of the meeting was to share their thoughts on the future of Tippah County. MS Suzy Bowman and Mr Lewis Whitfield from Create Foundation led the discussion, along with Mr. Kyle Smith and Chris Lewellen. These students represented Blue Mountain well for using their voices to make a difference in the future of our community.
Blue Mountain Seniors Precious Hall and Taniya Royston, were able to job shadow at Blue Mountain Christian University under MS Amy Thurmond. MS Thurmond is the production specialist/graphic designer at BMCU. After graduation, Precious and Taniya would like to pursue a career in Art.
Dalila Moreno, Blue Mountain Senior, was able to job shadow yesterday at Hair Creation owned by Barbara Brock. Ms Brock presented the pros and cons of owning your own business in the cosmetology world and what it takes to be successful in the beauty industry. A big thanks to Ms Barbara Brock for taking time out of her busy schedule to allow Dalila to job shadow.
Rebel Services, LLC allowed Blue Mountain Senior Dalton Fowler to experience a job shadow yesterday. He was able to explore career opportunities in welding. Dalton was able to get a close up look at the trade and see how welders build and create every day and he also gained valuable insight into the welding industry.

On Friday, Blue Mountain School juniors & seniors attended the 2025 MPOWER College & Career Expo at the Crossroads Arena in Corinth, MS. Students from Alcorn, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Prentiss counties enjoyed this hands-on, experience-oriented event which featured local businesses and industries and provided students with opportunities to interact with equipment and learn about various career pathways. Students were also given an opportunity to speak with college representatives (NEMCC & various private/public 4-year universities) to give them educational options for their futures. Thank you to all of the career coaches that organized this awesome event!
